Assam Special TET 2026: Apply Online for LP & UP Teacher Eligibility Test
Assam Special TET 2026 notification has been officially released by the Government of Assam for candidates aspiring to become teachers in Lower Primary (LP) and Upper Primary (UP) schools. This Special Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) is conducted for candidates belonging to Bodo, Garo, Manipuri, and Hmar medium, as per the guidelines of the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).
Eligible and interested candidates who are permanent residents of Assam can apply online for Paper I (LP) and Paper II (UP) from 7 January 2026 to 7 February 2026. Candidates qualifying this exam will become eligible to participate in future teacher recruitment processes at the elementary level in Assam.

Eligibility Criteria for Assam Special TET 2026
Residential Requirement
Candidates must be permanent residents of Assam.
Educational Qualification for Lower Primary TET (Class I to V)
Candidates must fulfill any one of the following qualifications:
- Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed)
- Senior Secondary with 50% marks and 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed)
- Senior Secondary with 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education)
- Graduation with 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education
Educational Qualification for Upper Primary TET (Class VI to VIII)
Candidates must fulfill any one of the following:
- Graduation and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education
- Graduation with 50% marks and B.Ed
- Post Graduation with 55% marks and 3-year integrated B.Ed-M.Ed
- Senior Secondary with 50% marks and 4-year B.El.Ed
- Senior Secondary with 50% marks and 4-year B.A./B.Sc. Ed
- Graduation with 50% marks and 1-year B.Ed (Special Education)
Note: Minimum graduation marks are not applicable for candidates admitted to B.Ed or B.El.Ed courses before 29 July 2011.
Relaxation in Marks
A relaxation of 5% in academic marks is applicable for candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC, MOBC, and PWD (PH) categories.
