Key Functions
F-1 F-12 (Function Keys) : Used to perform special
functions that depend on the software
being used Enter or Return Used to execute an instruction or
data being keyed in through
the keyboard Caps Lock Used for keying in capitalized
alphabets Shift.
Backspace : Used to erase the character to the to the
left of the cursor position.
Num Lock : Used to activate the numeric keys on the
Numeric Keypad.
Ctrl : Performs specific task when used used in
combination with other keys.
Caps lock on / off: If pressed Caps lock key, a
capitalized alphabet is input. When it off, it
reverses the above effect.
Home, End, Page Up, Page Down : Home used to move
curser at the end ofline, End
used to move the curser at the end of line, Page Up used to
move one page up, Page Down
used to move one page Down.
Insert : Used to insert characters at the current
cursor position.
Delete : Del used to delete characters at the current
cursor position.
Esc : Depends on the application. Usually used to
cancel a command.
Print Screen : Used to print whatever is displayed on
the screen.
Windows Key : Used to open start menu using keyboard.
Multimedia Keys : It is present only in a Multimedia
Keyboard. It performs various
additional task such as sound control, calculator, email
etc.
